"First chance" 

The children from the orphanages are not hungry! 

Zivka is already 17 years old. She does not possess anything. She has no one. He does not speak foreign languages. She can neither work on a computer nor to solve difficult equations. She is not prepared for life as the children his age are, because he lives in an orphanage. The thing that Zivka can do is to make postcards. And she makes the postcards with an enormous diligence. But he knows that this is not enough in order to survive in life after leaving the orphanage. She also knows that outside of the orphanage she will face a cold reality with slippery roads where one can easily fall. And this scares Zivka most. Tomorrow he has nothing to rely on and nowhere to go. She wants simple things – to have an opportunity to make her living and to have where to live. That is the dream of nearly 10,000 Bulgarian kids who have the same fate as Zivka. 

"Give me an opportunity to survive!" 

This appeal you can see in the eyes of every child from the thousands of Bulgarian children who live in orphanages. Children who are found, abandoned and left. The state brings them up in anonymity. Their lives are marked with the signs of lack and need, but the pain of that cannot be shown in the statistics. They have no opportunity to live normally in the world they are born in. They live without support and security. But even living behind the fence of the orphanage they make plans for the future. They secretly dream one day to continue studying, to find a job and to have a home. They know that if they have the chance to touch at least one of these dreams, they will win the battle for their lives. Because after their secondary-school farewell ball all these children have to leave the orphanages where they have lived and then their survival becomes their personal concern.  

Totally unprepared for the reality outside the orphanage, they have neither where to go, nor anyone to rely on. Homeless, hungry and desperate, they face the impossibility to find a job due to their non-competitive education. And the crime world has especially well-developed senses for people in need. It either wins them over or makes them victims. Recently only one of the networks for people trafficking succeeded to capture more than 100 children. Thousands of children are sold abroad in order to beg, steal and become prostitutes. No one is insured against that trap, but the statistics show that most often girls from orphanages fall in it and that it is nearly impossible to go out of it alive. In order children from orphanages to approach their own lives with human dignity, they need only a chance for an equal start in life. Let us give it to them! In order these children to perceive the world as a tolerant and fair place that loves them as well as the others and needs their strength, dreams and potential.

"Face to Face" starts a national campaign "First Chance" in order to give a hand to those children and to help them find their first chance. The aims of this campaign are the following:  

- To attract the attention of different companies that would hire orphans on decent positions thus giving them a chance for a better life by earning their livings in an honest way. 

- To create educational programs through which the children without parents will gain additional skills which will give them opportunity to compete on the labour market  

- To create long-term partnership relations between "Face to Face" and Bulgarian Business that could give an equal chance to these kids in their search for jobs for decent living
