"Baywatch" campaign is carried out by Mayday foundation together with Seafriends Club – Varna and Public Environmental Centre for  

Sustainable Development. 

Mayday foundation is set up in 1998 in order to support different civic initiatives in the field of the environmental protection and community development. Since its establishment Mayday foundation has worked on issues, connected with environment protection of the sea coast /"Baywatch" campaign/, awareness rising for paper usage /"Feniks" campaign/ and with introduction of different forms of energy effectiveness. The foundation works for development of local policies for environmental protection. It also renders consultations and information with an aim to contribute to the development of Bulgarian non-governmental sector as a whole. For more information:www.maydayfoundation.hit.bg. 

Seafriends Club is established in 1996 by friends and adherents. The members of the club are all connected with the sea – they are divers, navigators, yachtsmen, ecologists, underwater photographers etc. 

SPHERES OF ACTIVITY  

1. Training in naval professions - divers, navigators, vessel drivers (of vessels with a capacity of up to 20 BRT) 

2. Work for preservation of the sea and sea shore from pollution 

3. Underwater archeology 

4. Alternative tourism –underwater tourism, marine eco and cultural tourism. 

5. Working with marginalized youths and providing them opportunities for integration and professional realization.

PECSD is a non-governmental organisation, set up with an aim to support the processes of sustainable development within the system "man-society-environment" through giving a new meaning and revaluation of ecological, economic, ethic and health aspects of life in Bulgaria. 

The main goals of PECSD include support of the environmental education, informing community for ecological problems, mobilizing citizen participation, demonstration of practices, leading to environmental protection and sustainable development, development of successful methods for elimination of environmental damages, as well as for prevention of possible future environmental and public health damages, participation in popularisation and implementation of principles, ideas and achievements in the field of the environmental protection and development of environmentally friendly society.  

PECSD is an association, registered at the Ministry of Justice as public benefit entity.
