Some of the old Bulgarian films can disappear forever! 

"Let’s save the films!" 

Bulgarian National Film Archive collection comprises of 4,825 Bulgarian and foreign films. Some 8,840 of them are Bulgarian feature, short and animation films and 5,985 are foreign ones. Part of them are on inflammable nitrate film stock that endangers them to disappear. 

The films are cultural monuments that belong not only to the separate countries, but to the whole humanity. 

It is hard to believe that in the century of the digital technologies in Bulgarian National Film Archive there are still films that are not transferred on DVD! 

To preserve "the moving pictures" for the future generations – that in UNESCO`s terms is the first and main duty of any national film archive. 

Bulgarian National Film Archive organises "Let’s save the films" campaign in order to raise funds for restoration of films from the national film archive that are endangered to disappear as well as for transfer of the films that are on inflammable nitrate film stock on DVD.
